A man working for a mortgage company was shot and killed on the job in Stafford County, Virginia, as he went to change the locks on a foreclosed home on Tuesday, authorities say.

Michael Dodge II was the victim, the sheriff’s office said. He was a 35-year-old husband and father.

“You could’ve sold the house. There were options. And the option that you took was to murder my child,” Dodge’s mother, Lea Dodge, told News4.

News4 video shows the large law enforcement response to the home on Mountain View Road , with members of a SWAT team riding on the back of an armored truck and officers with rifles and shields.
