LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Kik, a Colorado-based app, was allegedly used as the avenue for a Louisville man to distribute child pornography.
A search warrant return from Kik for Michael Booth reportedly confirmed the distribution from a Kik account and the possession of the material in the account .
Kik operates in a way that prioritizes anonymity for users, and is what some groups consider to be a particularly dangerous platform for kids and teens.
“You don’t even have to pretend to be someone else. It’s designed to be connecting people with strangers,” Lily Moric with the National Center on Sexual Exploitation said.
The Colorado-based app does not require a profile picture or real name, just an email address.
