Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime returns the ball to Canada's Gabriel Diallo during their first round match at the Swiss Indoors tennis tournament at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland on Wednesday.

Canadians Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov advanced to the quarter-finals with straight-set wins at the Swiss Indoors on Thursday.

Auger-Aliassime, the 2022 and 2023 champion, fired 28 aces in a 7-6 (7), 7-6 (5) win over Croatia’s Marin Cilic.

The Montreal native won 96 per cent of points on his first serve and didn’t face a break point.

The victory extended Auger-Aliassime’s indoor winning streak to six matches after he captured the Brussels title last week. The fifth seed remains in the hunt for a spot at the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin.
