DUBUQUE COUNTY, Iowa — Gov. Kim Reynolds visited Eastern Iowa for a roundtable discussion with community members to address key issues in her final year in office.
The conversation focused on property tax reform ahead of the 2026 legislative session. Reynolds expressed her long-standing aspiration to tackle this issue, noting that meeting with Iowans gives her confidence in making progress next year.
"It's not easy or it would've been done," Reynolds said. "School funding is about 40 percent of that tax bill, 40 to 45 percent of that property tax bill, so when you combine that with thinking about delivering service differently, it's a hard task but we're determined to try and get something done."
The new legislative session begins in the second week of January 2026.
