QUINCY (WGEM) - St. Peter School in Quincy is adding some space.

The school is building six new classrooms and a brand-new cafeteria.

Crews with Maas Construction were busy at the construction site on Thursday.

The project will replace the current cafeteria and classrooms that are now located in the basement of St. Peter Church.

“The first floor of what we’re building is going to be a cafeteria and the second floor will be made up of six classrooms, plus two rooms that are student services rooms and then we’ll have our IT office there too,” said St. Peter School Principal Cindy Venvertloh. “We’re really just relocating; we’re not going to have any more classrooms than we normally would have, it’s just the fact that we’re all located in one place and it’s going to be a lot more safer.”
