RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) - A popular Marble City festival and fundraiser returned this week after years off due to brownfields renovations.

Locals hit the Vermont Farmers Food Center’s harvest fest on Thursday for the first time since 2021.

The space where the event operates had to remove its flooring to clean contaminated soil for a few years.

Now the campus has reopened with heated floors and an upgraded kitchen, which is still being constructed.

Organizers say the meals and activities help them bring more people together.

“It’s all donated food, so food comes in from all the farms. We usually have volunteer chefs that bring it together, so I think it’s just a really neat symbol of everything that the farmers market and the Farmers Food Center stand for, which is bringing people together
