MERIDIAN — The fifth-seed Owyhee girls soccer team didn’t waste any time shaking off first-round nerves Thursday afternoon. Behind two early strikes from distance, the Storm seized control and never let go, claiming a 3-1 victory over Mountain View in the opening round of the Class 6A state tournament.
Owyhee (14-4-1) will face top-seeded Timberline in the semifinals on Friday at 1 p.m. at Rocky Mountain High School.
It was a statement start for an Owyhee squad determined to reclaim its crown after failing to defend its 2023 title.
