The title of 2025’s highest-grossing Indian film has shifted from Chhaava to Kantara Chapter 1, as Rishab Shetty’s film crossed ₹800 crore worldwide, surpassing Chhaava’s lifetime total of Rs 807 crore. Hombale Films, the studio behind Kantara Chapter 1, reported that the period actioner earned Rs 717 crore worldwide in its first two weeks. In its third week, the film added Rs 38 crore net in India over the weekend and Rs 92 crore gross globally in six days, bringing its total to Rs 809 crore—surpassing Chhaava’s lifetime collection of Rs 807 crore.
