WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - A Wichita Police task force has recovered millions of dollars' in stolen property and arrested over 600 individuals in just a year.

Last year, WPD created the Property Crimes Reduction Task Force to combat shoplifting and car theft. Since then, officers have recovered nearly $7.5 million in stolen property, more than 400 stolen cars, and 51 guns, resulting in over 600 arrests.

About four outside agencies help establish the task force, and now that number has tripled.

"I cant even begin to tell you the number of times where we've had crimes or offenders that have crossed over between all these jurisdictions," Task Force Captain, Casey Slaughter, said.
