MADISON (WKOW) -- The American Heart Association hosted the 10th annual Hard Hats with a Heart Thursday.

The event aims to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke in the construction, design and engineering industries.

The Hard Hats with Heart campaign brings together general contractors, subcontractors and health care and business executives to shine a light on the prevalence of heart disease in the construction industry and showcase how creating a culture of wellness within companies can make a big difference.

Organizers hope to promote wellness initiatives and heart education on job sites, including techniques that can save lives.

According to the AHA, 1 out of 4 construction workers have high blood pressure, and 1 out of 25 construction workers have heart disease
