Attorneys for former Hamtramck Police Chief Jamiel Altaheri said he and the city have reached an agreement that allows him to resign with an approximately $52,000 severance buyout, rather than being fired.
The former chief, whose tenure was marred by an independent investigative report substantiating several claims of misconduct, will receive a lump-sum severance payment equal to five months of his base salary, the Hall Makled law firm said in a press release announcing the agreement.
