SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - On Thursday, the annual Take Back the Night event was hosted at the University of Sioux Falls Salisbury Science Center.
The free event supports victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Guests participated in a short candlelight vigil walk, enjoyed light appetizers, with a main program consisting of music, a story from a federal representative, a panel of survivors and advocates, and silent witnesses.
“A lot of times, someone doesn’t have someone they can speak to, so that’s why they are stuck in the domestic violence cycle for so long, and the sooner we can let them know there are people there, the sooner we can help slow and put a stop to domestic violence in our area,” said vice chair of the Minnehaha County Family Violence C
