EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Another honor flight from the tri-state is almost here, so a group of veterans gathered today to get ready.

At the CK Newsome center, Honor Flight held their preparations dinner before their flight to Washington.

This event is for all the veterans to gather and meet the groups they will be with during the trip.

They also enjoy a meal together and listened to a keynote speaker.

President of Honor Flight, Michael Freeman, says it means a lot for the veterans to have the trip.

“A lot of them have never been to Washington DC and may not have another opportunity to go,” Freeman says. “So their one chance to see those memorials and see smiles in their faces and the therapeutic ability of this trip to welcome them home. They may not have gotten when they first enlis
