OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The City of Omaha held an open house tonight to talk about changes on the way for Tranquility Park.
The project was initially supposed to create multi-purpose turf fields, baseball and softball fields and improved parking and concessions.
You may have noticed nothing in the park has changed since the project was announced in 2023.
A city spokesperson says the initial timeline for that project would’ve had crews grading and putting down turf fields by now. Now, those fields won’t be ready until about July 2026.
CHANGE OF PLANS
The original plan was to have soccer and baseball or softball fields.
That representative says that with construction costs going up, only soccer fields will be built for now, with the potential to add softball and baseball fields later.
