SOLON, Ohio — Solon voters will decide on Nov. 4 whether to clear the way for a destination winery on Aurora Road.
The proposal would rezone a 24-acre property at 37500 Aurora Road, opening the door for a new location of Michael Angelo’s Winery and Bakery — a project that has generated both excitement and caution in the community.
If approved, the ballot measure would create a new zoning classification called W-1, or Winery District. The district would apply only to this site and would limit development strictly to winery-related uses. Residential housing and other types of commercial operations would be prohibited.
“This was done to ensure that only a winery with operations similar to Michael Angelo’s can be operated on the site,” said Michael Ionna, Solon’s director of planning and
