Here's a first look at proposals to revamp the town centre in Tunbridge Wells , with work due to start in just over two months. The aim of redesigning the pedestrianised Calverley Road Precinct along with the Fiveways area, is to make it "more welcoming" and to create space for activities and events, such as markets.
As KentLive reported seven years ago , Fiveways had a £750,000 revamp, as the first phase of making the town's main drag more pedestrian-friendly. The present day options for making the area more pleasant to spend time in and to boost footfall and business include a bandstand for local performers, a water and rocks feature, and aesthetic lighting of historic elements.
Work is scheduled to begin in January 2026 and will take six months. It will see the precinct renamed Ca
