At least 20 passengers were killed after a private Volvo bus caught fire near Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh in the early hours of Friday. The bus, carrying 41 people from Hyderabad to Bengaluru, was completely gutted when flames engulfed it near Chinnatekur village in Kallur mandal around 3:30 a.m.
According to initial reports, the fire started in the front portion of the vehicle and spread rapidly, leaving passengers trapped inside. Twelve people managed to escape by breaking the emergency exit and sustained minor injuries. They were immediately rushed to Kurnool Government Hospital for treatment. Heavy rainfall was also reported in the area at the time of the incident, which complicated rescue efforts.
