BOISE, Idaho — In October, the Treasure Valley transforms into a playground for thrill-seekers, ghost hunters, and families looking to get into the holiday spirit.
From eerie prisons to local lore tours and haunted houses, Idaho’s rich history is highlighted during the fall in spooky, chilling ways.
Three of the state’s most Halloween-themed attractions that continue to draw crowds every October are the Old Idaho Penitentiary, Boise Trolley Tours' Haunted Halloween Tour, and Requiem Haunted House.
Starting with the Old Idaho Penitentiary, built in 1872, the prison operated for 101 years, housing some of the state’s most notorious criminals before closing in 1973. Now, the sandstone penitentiary stands as a museum, but many believe it’s home to more than just history.
