CLE ELUM, Wash. — After a series of crashes in which semi-trucks slammed into bridges in western Washington, King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn is pushing for a state law that would hold motorists accountable for those types of incidents .

He dubbed it the "Stupid Motorist Law."

"This isn't just another car accident [and] we gotta stop treating it like another car accident. It's a serious economic harm and a harm to taxpayers," Dunn told KING 5. "If we don't put something like this in place, it's going to keep happening."

In August, the White River Bridge , which recently reopened, was severely damaged when a semi-truck crashed into the structure.

On Tuesday, the Bullfrog Road bridge over I-90 near Cle Elum was damaged.
