The rain has arrived and will settle in overnight before turning into possible intermittent light sprinkles over the weekend that will give way to a sunny Monday.

The first showers hit Perth in the early hours of Friday and by 8.59am, Jandakot had recorded 1.2mm, Swanbourne 1.4mm and Perth 0.8mm.

It has only got wetter from there, with rain continuing to fall across the metropolitan area, bringing with it high wind gusts.

By early Friday afternoon, Perth had 2mm of rain, Jandakot 5.6mm and Swanbourne 2.2mm.

Highlighting the cold front’s movement south, Mandurah — which had no rainfall overnight — had 3.6mm tumble down since 9am.

The Bureau of Meteorology takes its 24-hour rainfall period from 9am one day to 8.59am the next.
