Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 24: At least 12 people were killed, including a biker, when a Bengaluru-bound private bus from Hyderabad caught fire after colliding with a two-wheeler near Chinnatekur village in Kurnool district early Friday, police said.

Officials warned that the death toll could rise as rescue teams continued to search the charred remains of the vehicle.

According to preliminary reports, the two-wheeler collided with the bus and was dragged beneath it, its open fuel cap triggering a massive blaze that engulfed the vehicle within minutes.

“So far, 11 passengers and a biker have died. The fate of nine others remains unknown,” said Kurnool Range DIG Koya Praveen, adding that a complete assessment of casualties will be made after identification.
