The Malawi Women’s National Football Team, the Scorchers, played to a goalless draw against Angola in the first leg of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Thursday.
The Scorchers dominated much of the match but were left frustrated after failing to convert several clear chances despite controlling the game from start to finish.
Head Coach Lovemore Fazili expressed optimism that his charges will complete the job in the return leg at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on October 28, where a win would see Malawi qualify for the continental finals for the first time in history.
