Indian Railways is closely monitoring over 12,000 special trains running during Diwali and Chhath at three levels. Those are Division, Zone, and Railway Board.

Train delays have been reduced to under three hours, and over 50 lakh more passengers have traveled compared to last year.

Overseeing operation daily

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar are overseeing operations daily.

The system tracks each train’s live location from departure to destination, allowing immediate action if a train stops at a non-scheduled station. This intensive monitoring has cut average delays dramatically; trains that previously ran 8–18 hours late now experience under three hours of delay.
