Srinagar, Oct 24: All 86 MLAs of Jammu and Kashmir cast their votes on Friday in the Rajya Sabha elections, according to news agency.
The postal ballot of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik, currently in detention, has also reached the Returning Officer and will be included in the counting. Polling formally closes at 4:00 PM, sources said.
The total strength of the J&K Assembly is 88, but Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone abstained from voting.
With the National Conference (NC) receiving support from Congress, PDP, CPI(M), and independents, the alliance’s combined strength has reached 58 votes, enough to secure all four Rajya Sabha seats.
