District races are intensifying. These are some of the top New Orleans area prep football games for Week 8.
Belle Chasse at St. Charles
The winner here will have a chance to play for the district title when it faces Shaw in the coming weeks.
Belle Chasse is 7-0 for the second year in a row but will face its toughest challenge yet against St. Charles, which beat Belle Chasse 14-13 last season. This is a dominant Belle Chasse team that has averaged 53 points per game and allowed a total of 32 points for the season. The Cardinals have posted four shutouts.
St. Charles (6-1) is much improved from when it had a five-year run of reaching the state final snapped as it posted a losing record last season. The lone loss came on a last-play touchdown by St. James to end regulation.
