When the seemingly inevitable happens next week and the Ottawa Redblacks start their house-cleaning from a very disappointing five months by firing their head coach, the organization will not only be saying farewell to a good man, but also a good dog that has become part of the fabric at TD Place.

And Shaka, a 22-month-old Doberman who is Bob Dyce’s “best friend,” will be losing his impeccably groomed playground while members of the Redblacks who return will miss their lean, friendly four-legged unofficial mascot.

Dyce’s relationship with Shaka began when he picked up the puppy from a Prince Edward County breeder in the winter of 2024.
