CLARENDON, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - A Castleton man is due in court after he was caught operating a vehicle at nearly double the speed limit, over 100 miles per hour Thursday morning.
This incident occurred on Route 7 near Gorge Road at about 10:24 a.m. A Rutland County Sheriff's Office Deputy reportedly saw the driver, a 46-year-old man, traveling at about 105 MPH.
The speed limit in the zone is only 55 MPH, authorities noted online.
A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was released on a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court - Rutland Criminal Division. He was issued a speeding ticket with a $696 fine, and will answer to negligent operation plus excessive speed charges.
