An Edinburgh tourist was forced to undergo surgery and spend a number of days in hospital following a bike crash while on holiday in the capital.
Ian Gregson, 63, travelled to the city with the hopes of riding some of its picturesque paths and trails before one cycle took a turn for the worst on the first day of his trip.
The actor and musician from Vancouver, set off on Roseburn path on September 26 and attempted to make a turn before his wheel caught the edge of the path and flipped him onto his side.
One passer-by helped Ian and called an ambulance before he was rushed to hospital. He broke the top of his right femur and had to undergo urgent surgery.
