Avelo Airlines is saying goodbye to being at Bradley Airport as the airline carrier says it’s pulling all of its flights out of the airport, including a popular nonstop route to Jamaica.

It’s having a big impact for the West Indian community in Greater Hartford.

“It was like a godsend,” Sherwane Hudson, of Windsor, said.

Hudson loved having the ability to take the nonstop flight to Jamaica provided by Avelo Airlines from Bradley International Airport. He travels there multiple times a year.

“We go back home a lot so I know that it was a big factor, especially a direct flight to Montego Bay,” he said.

But that flight will soon be no more. Avelo announced Thursday they’re pulling out of Bradley completely.
