Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has launched redevelopment projects for two key crematoriums in the Old Town area—Kaligadia and Garabadu.
Ekamra MLA Shri Babu Singh laid the foundation stones today, marking a significant step toward improving last rite facilities in the city.
BDA will invest ₹2.21 crore in Kaligadia and ₹1.85 crore in Garabadu to upgrade infrastructure and create a more dignified space for families. The redevelopment plans include:
Parking areas and boundary walls
Security kiosks and staff rooms
Caretaker rooms and gender-specific changing rooms
Waiting halls, pyre wood storage, and cremation platforms (pindis)
