President Trump defended his decision to call off trade negotiations with Canada on Friday, accusing the U.S.'s northern neighbor of attempting to "illegally influence" a pending Supreme Court case over tariffs.

"CANADA CHEATED AND GOT CAUGHT!!!" Trump posted to Truth Social. "They fraudulently took a big buy ad saying that Ronald Reagan did not like Tariffs, when actually he LOVED TARIFFS FOR OUR COUNTRY, AND ITS NATIONAL SECURITY."

"Canada is trying to illegally influence the United States Supreme Court in one of the most important rulings in the history of our Country," Trump wrote.

In a second post, the president suggested the U.S. is "WEALTHY, POWERFUL, AND NATIONALLY SECURE AGAIN" because of his tariffs, and called the looming case, "THE MOST IMPORTANT CASE EVER."
