The Thunder Bay model railroad show, Thunder on Rails, returns to the West Thunder Community Centre at 915 Edward St. S. this Saturday and Sunday.
The biannual event founded by Brian Thom in 1996 celebrates 30 years of bringing the joy of model rail-roading to the people of the Thunder Bay area. The prior COVID-19 pandemic made us all press the pause button, moving Thunder on Rails from every even year to the odd years in 2023 because five years without a show was long enough.
This year, model railroads of N (1/160), HO (1/87), O (1/48) and G (1/22.5) scales will be on display, including a Lionel brand retail promotional display layout believed to be from Thunder Bay's Chapple's department store in the early 1950s.
