HAMBLEN COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — Deputies are investigating after two people were found dead at a home in East Hamblen County Thursday evening.

The Hamblen County Sheriff's Office reported Friday morning that officers responded to the home at approximately 9:45 p.m. in response to a 911 call.

When deputies arrived, they were not able to get an answer at the front door and proceeded to the back side of the home. There, the deputies discovered a man lying on the floor of the home's family room with a handgun lying nearby.

Deputies entered the home to check if the man was injured and also found a woman lying on a couch. The sheriff's office said both the man and woman were unresponsive and appeared to have gunshot wounds.
