CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The November SNAP benefits would usually arrive a week from Saturday, Nov. 1, but those are now in question with the ongoing government shutdown.

Gov. Patrick Morrisey has announced the allocation of $1.1 million in emergency funding for foodbanks across the state—just in case.

“We’re being proactive and making some early moves to make sure our state is prepared, but a simple solution is for Senate Democrats to pass a clean, bipartisan funding extension and reopen the government,” Morrisey said in a statement.

Morrisey said the money will be put into the hands of food bans “as they prepare for the fallout.”

“While vulnerable West Virginians are being held hostage by Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats,” Morrisey said.
