Jameer Thurman is right.
So is everyone else praising his Saskatchewan Roughriders teammate, outside linebacker A.J. Allen, for a season worthy of consideration as the CFL’s most outstanding Canadian player. Ain’t gonna happen though. Not with Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke playing at superstar levels with the B.C. Lions.
It has happened once of note, when a linebacker surprisingly upset a quarterback in 2014 balloting between two Hall of Famers. That’s when B.C.’s Solomon Elimimian became the only defensive player ever named the CFL’s most outstanding player, ahead of Toronto Argonauts quarterback Ricky Ray.
Will something like that ever happen again? Will a linebacker beat a quarterback?
Will the City of Regina ever reopen Dewdney and 11th Avenue?
Both seem unlikely.
