When longtime trapper Larry Feltman approached Randy Zarnke, president of the Alaska Trappers Association, about publishing his memoir, Zarnke wasn’t entirely sure what to think. The Trapper’s Association has been issuing books focused on hunting, trapping, outdoorsmanship, and Alaskan history for over a decade. But Feltman’s submission, “Alaskan Wilderness: A Soul’s Journey,” was a bit different from what they had previously released.

Feltman, who died in his remote cabin sometime last winter, told Zarnke that his book incorporated his deep philosophical and religious views.

“All of that is important to me and it shows up in my writing,” he explained at the time.
