LEVITTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A man is in critical condition after being shot in the parking lot of a Bucks County Wawa Thursday night.

Police responded to the 3800 block of Bristol Oxford Valley Road in Levittown around 11:50 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot.

He was taken to St. Mary Medical Center, then flown to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, where he is in critical condition.

Police say it began as a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical fight.

The shooter stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with police.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
