Longmont City Council will not pursue a local minimum wage increase for now, instead opting to wait for Boulder County to finalize its own ordinance before taking further action. A formal motion reflecting that decision will come at the Oct. 28 city council meeting.

At Tuesday’s pre-session meeting, councilmembers agreed that the city should maintain Colorado’s current minimum wage of $14.81 per hour while monitoring regional developments. Several cited economic uncertainty and the need for a countywide approach as reasons for delaying a decision.

The timing of Longmont’s discussion coincided with a pivotal vote by Boulder County commissioners, who directed staff Tuesday to draft a new ordinance aligning the county’s minimum wage with Boulder’s.
