Syracuse, N.Y. ― A man stole dozens of rental vehicles from a Syracuse airport car rental agency and rented them out, police say.

Between June and August, 47 vehicles were stolen from Avis Budget Car Rental at the Syracuse Hancock International Airport campus, according to a news release from the airport.

The vehicles were valued at over $1 million.

Airport police are now alleging that a former employee of the car rental company stole the vehicles and then rented them out to customers around Onondaga County.

Police are looking for the man, Milton W. Thompson III, 31, of Syracuse, who is wanted on the following charges:

Second-degree grand larceny, a Class C felony

First-degree scheme to defraud, a Class E felony

Several of the vehicles have been successfully recovered, police said.
