CHARLESTON, W.Va. — House of Delegates Speaker Roger Hanshaw says it’s time for Black Diamond Power to get out of the utility business.

Hanshaw has penned a letter to the state Public Service Commission——joining fellow residents of Clay County expressing concern about Black Diamond’s service. Hanshaw is also calling on the PSC to reject Black Diamond’s rate hike request.

“Its request for the consolidated power purchase surcharge proposed in this case should be denied, and the Public Service Commission should order the sale of Black Diamond Power Company to another entity capable of providing adequate electric utility service to the customers in the service territory served by Black Diamond Power Company,” Hanshaw wrote.
