NORTON, Ohio — Norton City Schools is pushing back against a recent decision by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) that affects the undefeated Norton High School football team’s computer ranking for the postseason.
In a letter shared publicly on Thursday, the district said it has submitted a formal response to the OHSAA after the organization announced it would begin counting certain game cancellations as forfeits in the official Harbin Ratings — the formula used to determine playoff seeding.
As a result of the policy change, Norton’s record has been adjusted from 8-0, ahead of Friday night’s game, to 8-1. Before the update, the OHSAA Football Computer Ratings listed Norton as No. 1 in Division IV, Region 13, as of Oct. 21. Final seeding, including which teams receive
