Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim believes Bruno Fernandes is a "great captain, leader and footballer".

Fernandes is set to make his 300th appearance for the club against Brighton this weekend. He is regarded as the best signing of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era and was appointed captain two years ago.

The midfielder received a lucrative offer to sign for Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal in the summer, but he decided to stay at Old Trafford , and he is practically undroppable for Amorim.

Amorim was asked whether Fernandes had surpassed his expectations at United and responded: "I think it's a little bit different from what I was expecting. Everything you read about the players sometimes is not that. You can understand sometimes they already spoken about.
