New York Attorney General Letitia James on Friday pleaded not guilty to federal charges in a fraud case tied to mortgage records she signed in 2020.
James is a longtime antagonist of President Donald Trump , who publicly urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to target her weeks before she was indicted .
James' case in U.S. District Court in Norfolk, Virginia, is set to head to trial on Jan. 26, 2026.
"This is not about me. This is about all of us," James said after leaving court, "and about a justice system which has been weaponized" and "used as a tool of revenge."
"So there's no fear today," she said. "I believe that justice will rain down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream."
