Marshall Warren’s first NHL call-up did not lead to his NHL debut on Thursday, but it still was a significant step for the Laurel Hollow product.
“When I was like a 7-year-old kid, you want to be an Islander,” he said in September. “That’s obviously my biggest goal. I’m just trying to push myself in every direction to do that.”
He was recalled from the Islanders’ AHL affiliate in Bridgeport but did not participate in the team’s morning skate and was a healthy scratch for Thursday night’s 7-2 win over the Red Wings at UBS Arena.
The 24-year-old defenseman is in his second full season in the Islanders’ organization. He was a sixth-round pick of the Wild in 2019 and played four seasons of NCAA hockey for Boston College and one more for Michigan.
