The Greater Ontario Hockey League is about to grow.
After a major realignment before last season, the league is now looking to balance its conferences in time for the 2026-27 campaign.
“We’ve got a ton of interest, which is fantastic,” GOHL commissioner Craig Spada said.
The league has Ontario Hockey Federation approval to add two franchises after Niagara Falls and Leamington left for the Ontario Junior Hockey League before 2023-24, but Spada said it’s likely only one team will join the GOHL, for now, to ensure there are 12 in each conference. It’s also probable that the new franchise will be organic as opposed to a team moving from a different league, Spada added.
“We want to make sure everybody is on the right page in doing this.”
