Star shortstop Bo Bichette and first baseman Ty France were added to the Toronto Blue Jays’ roster for the World Series on Friday prior to Game 1 against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers.

Bichette, sidelined with a sprained left knee for the past six weeks, will take the roster spot of outfielder Joey Loperfido. Loperfido was added to the roster midway through the American League Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners to replace the injured Anthony Santander.

Bichette is also capable of playing second base or designated hitter. An immediate return to his natural shortstop position might be a reach because of the lateral mobility demanded to excel in that spot and the Dodgers’ potent offense.
