Louisiana State Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, then fled the scene.

James Rasberry, 71, of Hodge was walking along the southbound shoulder of Plank Road, just north of Hooper Road, at about 1:45 p.m., when he was struck from behind by a vehicle.

Rasberry suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on evidence gathered by State Police, it's believed the vehicle is a 2019 or newer Nissan Altima, with damage to the right front bumper area, including the headlight and side mirror.
