The Royal BC Museum is on the hunt for a new chief executive, following a rocky history with recent CEOs.

Current CEO Tracy Drake was appointed on an “acting” basis in 2023, before her role was extended by one more term in 2024 until the end of December 2025.

Drake took the position after the two CEOs before her resigned. In 2021, former CEO Jack Lohman resigned amid an investigation into concerns about systemic racism at the museum.

The next CEO, Alicia Dubois, was appointed in February 2022 but resigned less than a year and a half later, with the museum saying that she felt she was “no longer best suited to the position” in a statement at the time.

An interim CEO was then appointed before Drake officially took on the role as “acting” chief executive in August 2023.
