Gov. Wes Moore slammed President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans Friday as the continued federal government shutdown threatens access to SNAP benefits for Marylanders.
“As I have long said — there is no balance sheet to make up for when the federal government just decides to tell states, ‘You’re on your own,’ ” Moore, a Democrat, said in a statement Friday. “In Maryland, we will continue to do everything in our power to ensure the federal government follows the law and provides funding for the critical services that our families, our children, and our veterans rely on.”
The United States is undergoing the second-longest government shutdown in its history, leaving federal workers and programs like SNAP in the fiscal lurch.
