Des Moines Roosevelt volleyball player Julia Knapp and Johnston boys golfer Andrew Johannsen were voted the Des Moines Register's metro-area female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of Oct. 12-18.

Knapp won female Athlete of the Week with 80% of the vote.

Knapp had a big day for the Roosevelt volleyball team during a four-set victory over Ottumwa on Oct. 14 in Des Moines.

Knapp finished the match with 17 kills on outstanding 65.4% efficiency. She also tallied 11 digs and five blocks.

Johannsen won an individual state championship at the Class 4A boys state golf meet held Oct. 13-14 at the Hyperion Field Club in Johnston.
